What is a DR audit and why would our client buy one?
It is an independent review of whether the backup and DR they are already paying for actually recovers. We inventory coverage, review retention and immutability, then run live recovery tests per platform and measure real recovery time and recovery point against the stated targets. Clients buy it after an insurance renewal, an audit finding, or a near miss — and it very often turns into remediation work you deliver.
Is a hardened Linux repository really different from just enabling immutability?
Yes, and the distinction matters. An immutability flag on a Windows repository still sits inside the domain an attacker just compromised. A hardened Linux repository with single-use credentials and no domain membership removes that path entirely. It is the single highest-value change in most Veeam estates.
Can you audit backup platforms other than Veeam?
Yes. Recent audit work has covered Veeam alongside NetApp snapshots, ManageEngine for Microsoft 365, Carbonite, and native AWS snapshot and S3 object-lock configuration in the same engagement. Mixed estates are the normal case, not the exception.
Do you test restores, or just review configuration?
We test. Configuration review tells you what should happen; a restore test tells you what does. We validate that recovered data and workloads are usable and intact, and we capture the observed timing — which is frequently the finding that changes the client conversation.
Can this be sold as a recurring service rather than a project?
It works well as one. Many partners sell an annual DR test with a written report as a retained service, which gives the client audit evidence every year and gives you predictable revenue. We deliver it under your brand on your schedule.
Would your client's backups survive a domain compromise?
Most would not, and most partners find out during the incident. A scoped DR audit answers the question before it is asked for you.
